Mary Ellison was CornerHouse's first executive director and deputy Commissioner of Public Safety from 1989 - 1992. Without their vision, CornerHouse would not be carrying out its mission today.

About CornerHouse
CornerHouse is a public-private partnership organized as a non-profit agency. It provides forensic interviews and medical examinations for children and vulnerable adults suspected of being physically or sexually abused. CornerHouse hears the cries of approximately 500 children each year.
Opened in 1989, CornerHouse works with police, child protection and prosecutors to provide the highest quality and most reliable information and evidence regarding allegations of abuse. CornerHouse also provides training locally, nationally and internationally. In the past 15 years CornerHouse staff has trained over 20,000 professionals from all 87 of Minnesota’s counties, 48 states, seven foreign countries and the International Criminal Court at the Hague.
About The Golden Wings Museum
The Golden Wings Museum is an American treasure. The 55,000 square-foot hangar and “living history” museum features some 30 unique and one-of-a-kind airplanes from America’s Golden Age of Aviation (1920-30s). Among the many rarities are America’s first airliner, NASA’s first airplane, the only remaining example of a Fleetwings Seabird and the first airplane in which a pope ever flew. New to the collection is a 1927 Ford Tri-motor, clad in corrugated aluminum.
The vicious cycle of child abuse is interrupted only when children are heard and the abuse is stopped.
CornerHouse hears the voices of approximately 500 children each year when conducting forensic interviews and medical examinations of children who have reported sexual abuse, witnessed violent crime or who may have been otherwise victimized.
Since its founding in 1989, CornerHouse has used an interview method which promotes a collaborative system response, eliciting statements from children in a way that is developmentally appropriate, non-leading, and ensures the rights of the accused.
In 1990, CornerHouse began training others about this method and other best practices in forensic interviewing. To date, CornerHouse has trained over 20,000 individuals who have come from 48 states as well as Canada, Jamaica, Kosovo, Uruguay, American Samoa, Japan, Columbia, and the International Criminal Court at the Hague seeking forensically sound methods of interviewing children. Trainees report that CornerHouse training is, “…by far the best training (they) have ever attended…”!
